Dr. Shell Gale graduated from Colorado State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences near the top of her class in 1993. After working as an associate she started her own human-animal bond centered practice in 1994. She created a niche in the growing Las Vegas area and succeeded in developing a practice model which evolved over time; shifting caseloads to make the most of schedules, knowledge, and resources. The result was a mobile clinical practice in which high quality veterinary medicine and surgery were performed. Dr. Gale focused on internal medicine and oncology patients. She enlisted the services of a boarded oncologic and reconstructive surgeon for the most difficult cases. Animal Haven Mobile Veterinary Clinic of Las Vegas was for more than 10 years a highly successful and rewarding practice.
The ability to think “out- of- the- box” and appreciate individual interests and goals is part of Dr. Gale’s skill set. Active listening to clients, colleagues and staff is vital to the achievement of successful outcomes. Good communication facilitates the development of diagnostic and treatment plans which are congruent with the client's wishes and patient's needs. As a full - time practice owner, Dr. Gale refined her business acumen. Today, in an evolving role in veterinary medicine, she maintains good professional relationships as practitioner and consultant.
Dr. Gale's communication abilities and interpersonal aptitude have been further advanced by her six years of Doctoral studies in human behavior including training in clinical psychology and a concentration in health psychology and behavioral medicine. While attending the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, she co- taught graduate students in coursework that covered physiology and the consequences of disability.
It is more important today than ever for all professionals to enhance those non-technical skills that will further enable them to meet the needs of their clients, patients and co-workers. Advancements of these skills not only leads to the elevation of professional services, but also noteworthy positive change in quality of life.
The human-animal bond is long standing, constant, and universal.

Companion animal medicine and surgery exists today at the level of its human counterparts. The praxis or putting to work our body of knowledge through better communication is what we have been looking for. Praxis Veterinary Consulting has the answers.
